This video has a great trick to add adjustable belt tension to a FWD mower. I'm wondering if anyone has a trick for typical RWD since the transmission is usually just tensioned with a spring and only accessible from the bottom so doesn't allow this kind of fix.
My RWD mower has one spring, and the end that hooks on the trans hooks into a plastic area of the trans, and half of the plastic area broke. Fortunately, I rigged it so the spring can go back on, but that made me wonder what someone might do if there's a lack of ways to hook a spring on the trans.
One way would be to mount a plate/bracket to the bottom of the mower frame with a bolt or something that can push up on half the trans, but easier said than done.
