In two trims!
- Trailhawk
- Summit
No, I am NOT shopping for a new vehicle.
My wife was once again drooling over the massively overpriced Wranger 392 when we were doing some window shopping after going out for dinner for our 16 year anniversary. While she was distracted and I was rolling my eyes, the Trailhawk Grand Cherokee 4xe caught my eye. Today, on a lazy Saturday, I figured why not pop-up and take a peek. Ended up looking at both the Trailhawk and the Summit, which is clearly aimed at the BMW/Mercedes market.
Pros:
- Updated cluster and centre stack
- New UConnect interface is an upgrade over the previous, already very good system
- HUD
- One pedal driving
- 45km of range on full electric
- Night Vision
- Switchable, and moveable, rearview mirror camera for if your rear vision is obstructed
- Front camera
- ZF8 Hybrid transmission (same as BMW X5 XDrive45e/50e)
- Seats are very comfortable
- Ride is excellent
- More interior space over the WK2 Grand Cherokee
- Sprayers on all the cameras (I wish my WK2 had this)
- Quilted leather trim on Summit feels very upscale
- McIntosh sound system on Summit is fantastic
- Wireless charging and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto
- Massage seats on the Summit were well executed, very BMW/Mercedes
Cons:
- A bit more road noise than one would expect at this price point
- 4 cylinder engine is LOUD if you are outside the vehicle
- Gloss black plastic controls on the wheel are a downgrade over the previous matte version on the WK2
- 4 cylinder hybrid setup simply doesn't work as well as the BMW version with the 3.0L I6, which sounds better, pulls better and is just setup better (I consider the BMW best in class)
