Replacing mesh window screen - with and without a good frame

I got the standard screen corners from HD. These ones.

They look very different. It's a tongue that's supposed to slide into a groove, but overall it seems too big to fit. Not sure if maybe this is a different frame size. The replacement corners seem to be a bit too wide to fit. I’ve since disassembled the entire frames and trying to make one good frame and maybe make another from new parts. Just need to find frame corners that are compatible.

I have a photo. They’re different styles that look about the same size, but they don’t seem to fit. The one from HD is on the left and there's something about the dimensions that doesn't seem to fit into these. The one on the right is one of the remaining corners that hasn't broken.

I couldn’t get the broken pieces out, but could just push them in.

The screen is something like 35”x45” where I think I can make one screen frame from two 84” pieces. Then reuse the previous frame pieces if I can just find some compatible corners.

Can you take the part with you to the store and try to find fitting pieces there?

I've never made the frame but I did all the screens in my townhouse a couple years ago because of birds destroying the mesh. Probably took a couple hours for 11 windows. Also ran out of spline so I had to buy another package.

I went with the sun guard one and it's a very noticeable different. Unfortunately my windows are also like 72x32 so the sunblock part doesn't work as well as I hoped but the upstairs neighbor has a patio of that blocks the sun at it's daily peak thankfully.

I just posted a previous draft that I’d been working on but didn’t send earlier. So some of the description of what I did was before I went to a hardware store.

I did end up taking a few frame pieces to a hardware store to see if I could find something that fit. They only had gray corners, but I suppose I could use a Sharpie to turn in black to blend in with the frame. When I asked if maybe they had an already opened one that I could try out, the employee just opened the package and let me try it out for fit. It was Prime Line screen corners, and it was a bit tight but did fit. Cost $3.99, but I don’t want to just look all over the place to save $1.50, plus he was nice enough to open the package where I would have felt pretty bad about saying no thanks when it fit. I would have recommended just making new screens (they have plenty of mesh) with new frame material, but my dad was insistent on reusing the parts to make at least one screen.

Also, a 50 pack of these is really cheap. Around $10. But obviously I don’t need to make 10 screens.

Ended up buying another set of four corners of the same type and I’m going to return the ones that didn’t fit to HD. The remaining frame pieces aren’t in the best cosmetic condition, but good enough to reuse without needing to cut new pieces.
