Borrowed my parents' Rogue when it started giving an odor of coolant leaking on the engine. Small whiffs of steam rising and the smell. But it wasn't just pouring out. I returned it to them, telling them that it might not be a great idea to drive it too far away. Then my dad just completely freaked out after he was 8 miles from home and it just had tons of coolant steam coming out when he parked. I had a few looks at it and all I could tell was that there was a bit of coolant on the engine block, but couldn't determine where exactly it was coming from. The main hoses were all intact, including the upper/lower rad hoses and the long, thin hose to the overflow tank. I suppose it has some secondary hoses, but I couldn't find any listings for other coolant hoses when I did a search for parts.
So my parents took it to "their guy" who diagnosed it as being a leaky radiator (not sure where that happened) as well as what he believed was a rodent chewing into a coolant hose. I went with my parents to pick it up, and asked about it, where he gave me the details, although he might have tossed the hose. But exactly where would it be near the engine block? I could only think it might be the upper radiator hose, which didn't look like it was replaced.
He'd done work on my cars in the past, so I brought over some coolant that I won't be using any more as a gift. Two sealed gallons of Recochem "OEM" Japanese Green. Not sure what he can do with it, but he seemed appreciative. I actually stashed it in the back of the Rogue thinking he might use it, but I think he has his own stash of different coolants for most of the stuff he works on.
