Haha, yeah Volvo never makes mistakes...

they are the pioneers in this technology. All those lincolns and other cars you see with this tech, was pioneered by Volvo. So yes, they make mistakes, but were further ahead than any of the competition on accident avoidance

I agree, I think they make great cars. I had a 2001 S60 and I loved it.

My point was they are not infallible, which your earlier statement implied.

The Focus, from what I learned in another thread, has a similar dual-clutch AT, but though the one in the Focus feels a lot more refined. It may be the additional mass of the larger Focus, but it feels more like a traditional slush box than what a "manu-matic.' It may need an alignment with 37k miles on it, but I found the Fiesta to handle much better than the Focus. The Focus wanders and tram-lines a bit and even seems a bit louder, even though the tires seem as new as the ones on the Focus (my previous Yaris rental had nearly bald tires and I flew in during one of the last ice storms here in the Midwest. Luckily, I was able to walk to work every day, though that didn't save me from injury - I ate it Home Alone-style while walking to the office one morning!

Does it have Continental ProContact tires? They tram rail horribly.

Clarification: are you talking about the original equipment Continental ContiProContact, or the aftermarket Continental ProContact with EcoPlus?

I'll check on my way out to dinner. I thought it was the PUREcontacts that have the ecoplus.

They tramrail HORRIBLY. My parents have a 13 Escape with those tires. Their snow tires don't tram rail at all. Different driving experience.

Continental has put the "with EcoPlus Technology" branding on a number of their tires recently. And it makes for a very long tire name when you spell the whole thing out! I think the ProContact with EcoPlus Technology was the first one, three or four years ago. It has since been joined by the CrossContact LX20 with EcoPlus Technology about two years ago, and the PureContact with EcoPlus Technology last year. What a mouthful!

Good info, and you're right, what a mouthful!
