Agreed, I pointed that out earlier. Many Pstar owners are getting some really good mileage numbers in a variety of vehicles.

Chryslers forte has not been larger 4 cylinders. Incredible job on the Pentastar though...

I drove a rented 2012 Chrysler minivan from Florida back to NY and got about 25mpg. I was doing about 75 the entire time with A/C cranking and a fully loaded van (4 people and gear).
I was very impressed with the PStar V6. I have also driven a friends 2012 Avenger 4 cylinder and found it plenty peppy. I believe the engine is related to Hyundai's 4 cylinder (world engine).
I probably wouldn't buy a new one (unless it was deeply discounted) but I agree that they could be good deals in a few years.

Nissan VQ 3.5/3.7
GM 3.6 HF
Toyota 3.5
Honda 3.5

Truecar has the Avenger with Pentastar and 6 spd transmission at 17.3K in my area. Not half bad. That car has about the same power to weight ratio as a Mustang GT from say, five years ago.
They told me at the rental place that it had bad visibility so I took the Mazda 6 instead. Poor visibility is not something I easily accept.
Yep, there are other high output V-6s around. They are a good choice for the right price.

I was supplied with a 2009 avenger with the 4 cyl auto back in 2009 when my corolla was rear ended and I recall it had just over 3000 miles on the odometer. The only thing I noticed about it was the transmission felt like it was straight out of 1985. Possibly because of abuse, but with 3k on the car I was leery of it.

What exactly is wrong with the K-Car's 2.5?
Power? Yeah....comes up a little short for a 2.5. But when you compare it to Ford's HSC 2.5, Lima 2.5 or the GM's "Low-TechIV", It's not so bad.
Easy to service. Pretty durable.
EDZ/EDV/EDT 2.4s? Little coarse. So is the GM Quad4/Twin Cam. Even the mighty LG0 comes up about 80 ft-lbs of torque short vs my Chrysler 2.4. Ford used a Mazda engine.
The GEMA was a joint venture with Mitsubishi and Hyundai.
Not sure on the MultiAir Tigershark 2.4 yet.

It's not bad per-se, it's just not particularly good at anything. Many cars today are like that though. At least the 4 banger Avenger looks a little like a Charger that got left in the dryer overnight and they are usually bargain priced.
