Well I don't buy the Hyundai quality/reliability hype anymore than the Japanese brand hype. And I've seen enough to think Hyundai is being hyped up. I would be more inclined to buy a GM or Ford over Japanese brands for the same reasoning I would favor GM and Ford over Hyundai but only much more so since a lot more Hyundai or Kias aren't even manufactured here. They can have high parts cost for such a cheap car. On top of that, they look like complete knock-offs of other original designs, and personally I would be embarassed to drive something like that.

Put the crack pipe down, you have enough.

Codes read are P2716 and PO60X and most of the problems are cars made in NUMMI and ECUs made by Delco. Codes fall under federal emissions warranty of 8 years or 80K miles and Toyota has several TSBs out on this serious issue. If you are out of warranty, new ECU costs $700.

We had this experience with our 2006 Pontiac Vibe (same as Matrix) at about 60,000 miles. Luckily we were under the 80K warranty as we needed a new ECM. Just sold the car with 85K on it and other than that and a squeaky fan motor it was a fantastic car.

LOL the irony that Toyota's problems are tangentially to blame on GM through Delco/Delphi. I have to say though the Delphi generally makes good parts.

Well, Delphi will have to pay for any recall...but 26 complaints? TSB sure. recall? I doubt it.

This is an issue that has only affected the 9th generation of Corolla/Matrix. there is a TSB about it out there somewhere...this is old news...and 26 cars?? Hardly a benchmark for the entire company. Just a random pull off of recalls, I just seen one last week from Ford saying selected vehicles with cruise control, the deactivation switch could leak brake fluid and pose risk of fire. Does this make all Fords bad, not a chance.

next....

Not necessarily will Delphi have to pay for a recall even if it were to be completely their error. For one thing there might be a limitation on how long Delphi agreed to warrant the PCMs, and Delphi would at most only be on the hook for a new PCM or the cost originally payed for them which probably wasn't that much. Whether something is recalled or not depends mostly on whether it's considered a safety issue or not.
