Since Mobil 1 will be available in the 'H' flavour only late this year (i.e. available in stores begining of next year) would I be better of with H type Chevron or Petro Canada DexII in 2003 Altima transmission?
Since one of the memmbers here once said that the new DexIII- H is either same as or very close to Nissan's Matic D this should be ideal then.
I do experience just a bit of a jerk -at certain RPM's only- when it shifts from 1 to 2 gear under heavier acceleration the shift is seamless. I have done 4 ATF drain/refills thanks to the drain plug on ATF pan with cheap Motomaster DEX III (which I think is made by Shell) over a period of 8000 km. Still the shift did not improve.

If so, I highly doubt that changing to a higher grade fluid is going to improve your car's shifting. Most of the advantages of specification H and/or Mobil 1 have to do with their performance over time, not the initial performance.

Your vehicle probably has issues which require a mechanical solution.

Use a better fluid.

Mercon-V and the multivehicle fluids should improve the shift quality.

With a drainplug, regular drain/refills will lead to a long transmission life and good performance.

Would a multi-vehicle fluid be better than Mobil 1 Dexron III in a 2003 Nissan Altima transmission? would it be more friction moddified?
I am not looking for fluid longevity just want best protection and a little shift improvement.
It shifts ok just from 1-to-2 there is a bit of a jerk at certain RPMs it worries me who knows it could be begining of some serious problem.
Molakule you know this stuff i.e. similarities between Dexron III and MaticD, others with Nissan automatics please chime in.
Has anyone usen a multi-vehicle fluid in a Nissan application or a Dexron III application???
