Reduce OCI when using Bar's Leaks?

I thought I had a rear main seal leak and while Castrol GTX pretty much eliminated the leak, it returned with a vengeance after switching to Valvoline MaxLife NextGen. I got fed up with the driveway oil spotting and bought a bottle of Bar's Leaks Rear Main Seal Repair after reading some good testimonials on BITOG. Before pouring it in, I crawled under the Burb, popped the inspection hatch on the transmission bell housing and...no oil!

Looks like the leak is coming from somewhere else and I'll pull the valve covers in the next month or two to check them and just to get a peek, but thought I'd give the Bar's a shot, seeing as it was already sitting in my garage and it claims to work on other seal/gasket leaks better than other stop leaks. I only poured in 1/2 of the 16.9 oz bottle, figuring I could spread the bottle out over two OCI if it worked.

Now for my question: Should I cut my OCI short because of the use of the Bar's or go ahead and run it the full length?

I only have about 2,600 miles left on my current OCI, so I guess this question applies more for my next change if I continue to use the Bar's. My other thought was to run this OCI out to the planned 5,000 miles and add the Bar's about 2,500 miles into the next OCI, thereby roughly keeping their recommended 6,000 mile "maintenance" add frequency.

Its a sweller, so the minute its gone the balloon starts to deflate again right? Thats what full time use of High Mileage oil is for. Keep the seals blown up.

Bar's is obviously in it to sell product, but their instructions say, "To prevent future leaks, install Rear Main Seal Repair every 6,000 miles or with every oil change." With the standard OCI here in the States being 3,000 miles (in practice, despite manufacturers often specing longer intervals), it seems like they are saying you don't need it every oil change. Also, I plan on running High Mileage oils for the foreseeable future, so I figure they will help keep the seals somewhat conditioned and reduce the need for the Bar's.

And it says that it stops leaks within 100 miles or two days of driving, so I don't know if running it for a full OCI is needed to get maximum benefits. I will be putting 75-100 miles on it today and another 50 tomorrow. I'll report back if the half dose worked to stop the leak by then. If not, I will pour in the reamining 1/2 of the bottle.

I wouldn't cut my OCI short over only 8 oz. A half bottle an OCI sounds like a good plan to me if it works.

Well, that didn't work! The leak has actually gotten worse! When I slid underneath to take a quick look (benefits of being fairly thin and having an SUV with tires that are 1" taller than stock - don't need to jack it up to get underneath!), I could see that the leak is coming from the oil cooler block off on the driver's side and above the starter on the passenger's side. Time to take her in for a proper diagnosis!
