I called Redline to ask about a diesel 5w-40 and was told that the 5w-40 has been CJ-4/CI-4 for about eight months.
I pointed out the tech sheet on Redline's website shows only a CF diesel service class and was emailed an updated sheet.
I suggested they update their website.
The CJ-4/CI-4 has the same specifications as the old CF rated 5w-40 currently on the website.
I can buy Redline for less than Delvac 1 ESP 5w-40 - $8.20 per quart delivered in 12 quart cases.
I'd like some opinions on using this Group V in my 2005 Powerstroke all year in Wyoming. (Temps down to -20F, sometimes lower). I've heard that Redline should be more shear stable than Delvac 1 and Shaeffer's.
