Right now im running the 70w-80 Redline gear oil. I was thinking for my next fluid change, swapping out a quart of the 70w-80 oil for a quart of Redline Lightweight Shockproof gear oil. I abuse my car quite a bit in summer, and want the most protection. Does anyone have any experience in using this oil? I see alot of Subaru owners run this cocktail.

What car/transmission are you using this in? Seems worth a try but Shockproof is definitely not meant for synchro-transmissions. The oil you're using is Red Line MTL, correct?

Have you tried Motul Gear 300? The specs indicate that it's a 70w90 and not the 75w90 that it's labeled as. It should flow better than MTL but I haven't tested it yet.

I liked Shockproof in the transmission and final drive on my motorcycle, but there's a good history of success in that application. Email Redline and get their take on it. Their tech support is top notch.
