This. Original spec Z1 was nothing special. MaxLife available ~$18 gallon through Walmart order online for store pick up. Been using it on two Honda with simple d&fs 25-30k miles, one a V6 3.0L, both working fine. As for viscosity, ML being a full synthetic also has lower starting viscosity too, but greater much shear stability than spec Z1. You'll find the same for majority full synthetic ATFs now.

Not all Hondas had/have a serviceable ATF filter, 01 Civic EX one example, non serviceable. Though Honda does not go out their way to label it as such, it appears your MDX has a cartridge type filter element that 'can be serviced'. It's doable, but like many things getting to it prep work more time consuming than actual replacement. Diagram shows cartridge, though it says Ody same part number and similar diagram as 07 MDX found HERE . Credit to JTK for posting diagram HERE. I'd add as disclaimer, confirm Honda part number(s) and information prior to purchase.
