The Redline website lists their D4 ATF as the appropriate fluid for a Borg Warner 1356 t-case. Ford specs Mercon LV as the correct fluid for a 1356 t-case. The viscosity numbers for Redline D6 are closer to Mercon LV where D6 is a bit thicker. Now I don't know how much thicker the fluid actually is based on the numerical difference so I was just wondering what people's opinion would be as far using D4 or D6 in my transfer case. I have used Royal Purple and Amsoil OE Fuel Efficient which have viscosity numbers closer to Mercon LV and a bit lower than Redline D4. Almost 400k on the transfer case so on the one hand "if it ain't broke don't fix it", but I also want to give the Redline products a try since the local store that sold Amsoil closed and I have to order darn near everything now.

Do this - Redline website lists their D4 ATF as the appropriate fluid for a Borg Warner 1356 t-case and sleep well at night.
Both D4 and D6 are very good. (y)

My vote is for HPL BlueCC ATF which has a viscosity of 7.2cSt@100C, a very stable DI additive pack, and a majority PAO base for low temperature operation. I use it in my Frontier's Transfer Case.
