I like to use the correct fluids for the applications whether it's a Suzuki or Peterbilt.

A Peterbilt's probably some thing you really wantto care for and hang onto for a while or sell for a good price, maintain it well.
A Swift on the other hand...
Well, wait. Is it a GT?

Look at a VOA of Redline MTL and a xW30 engine oil and you'll go hmmmm. FWIW, most Honduhs can use a xW30 in the tranny. And you'll save a few bucks, isn't that why you got the Swift?

Check out the viscosities.

And compare them to this chart.
hmm, 50:50 10W30 and SAE30 might do it.

I agree that 30wt engine oil would work; I don’t think engine oil is a good transmission oil choice. An oil that is formulated for use in a manual trans will have EP adds for the bearing and gear contact patch and FM for the syncros, which engine oil typically will not have. I don’t even use engine oil in the gearboxes of my dirk bikes and quads since SF was willing to alter their add-pac slightly for my use. I’m sure that in a Swift 30wt would work, but there isn’t much extra cost involved in buying the correct MT oil, IMO.
