Redline held up better, the Castrol dealer oil above allowed fuel dilute to affect the engine by declining CC seal.

Insolubles is affected by fuel washout so it is much higher than that shows. Much more bearing wear going on here.

TBN retention, some engines and conditions affect TBN in RL worse than others, meaning the add pack is fighting oxidation issues and using itself up to control, the basic chemistry has a natural TBN capability and so if BKlabs is showing 0 the oil is still in say a 2.5 to 3 unit level by dexil standards, peculiar to this formula. LC usage helps with this issue greatly.

Is this X5 also driven in NYC traffic ?

Oh ye BITOG posters of little faith.........

Chef enjoy the ride ! Can't wait to see the GC function. It should do well as we discussed.

The car doesn't see NYC *midtown-manhatten traffic* per say but it does experiance a bottleneck on a route I take often.

There is a section from the parkway to the interstate that I travel often that merges/splits traffic across 4 lanes (belt parkway/I278). It's almost a given that during rush hour , the mornings or evenings, there will be stop-n-go traffic.

I'm not a *oil nut* like some of ya'll are but just a consumer who's interested in seeing how different oils behave in the car and decide which one to stick with. I'm not going to jump on the GC bandwagon just yet....but it's available locally, $3 less per bottle than RL, & it's in the car now. The next 2 UOA's will be something to look forward to. It would be interesting to see if the *GC bandwagon* is correct and does perform well in alot of different engines & conditions.

Anyone here wanna school a NOOB on learning how to read the UOA's ? I currently utilize Dr. Tyson's analysis and follow the good doctors recommendations

I haven't come across a BITOG UOA FAQ for NOOBS Guide Yet .............

Hey Shef don't confuse me with the boxing guy, thats spelled Dyson. Although we both like to bite ears,I prefer the female variety.

You are no NOOB, you just can't share all that vast knowledge....

Sorry Terry. I did try to Edit it but it was too late....

When I did the Preview Post, it felt like something was off but I just couldn't pinpoint it. I'll get it right the next time around Dr. Dyson
