The next time you call a company and want to complain over a bad product or a bad service you received do this. When you call, tell the person on the line that you are recording the conversation for safety purposes so there will be a record of what transpires over your conversation. Why?, most companies do this to us, so why not turn the tables, well it's a thought especially when they or them is giving you back say a confirmation number. You never know when you might need that conversation recorded to save your T-hiney over a situation.

What gear do you use to do this?

I'd do so corresponding with lawyers; I've never had issues so bad with other stuff to need to do this, fortunately.

I'm no attorney, but you probably don't even need to tell them you're recording it if they include the disclaimer at the beginning of the call saying it may be recorded.

Since the company tells you that they may record it, that means both parties know that the call may be recorded.

Some states are one-party states, so only one person needs to know the call is being recorded. But I don't know how that works when it comes to the two parties being in different states.

btw “I’m recording our call for training and quality assurance purposes.” Touché.
