Looking for recommendations for Toyota owners Internet forums that would cover my 1985 4x4 22R and to a lesser degree my 91 4runner 3.0 V6.

Especially interested in forums that tend to cater to the following:

Older Toyota corrosion control - truck bed is lost cause but cab and frame are viable with a little TLC.

Flat bed modifications and/or recommendations.

Suspension weight bearing upgrades. Not interested in lifts per say but mainly working truck suspension mods air bags, add a leafs and/or complete replacement.

22R carburetor rebuilds and other proven cost effective performance upgrades for 22R engines.

To a lesser degree also Interested in Buick V6 engine swaps and Chevy vortex V6 engine swaps for Toyotas.

That's tough. I would start at tundrasolutions.com and toyotanation.com and see if they have a following for anything of that age. Really, there was a tacoma forum I forgot the name of but otherwise you might be better served on a 4x4 or offroad forum.

Best of luck.

Thanks for the input everybody will check them out.

Some would argue [wife included] the truck 85 Toyota is not worth bothering with just let it go already. Current as is value is probably $2,500 for the right buyer as is.

I use the truck for my lawn & garden business and it's my roughest looking truck due to the bed rust. Flatbed conversion with fold down ramps will run just shy of $3,000 if I do all the work myself. Suspension issue will run aprox $500 or so to get the truck to proper spring weight. So is $4k really a wise plan to get the truck into proper shape for my business?

The expense of a new truck combined with all the problems I keep reading about with newer Toyota Tundra's [Double Cab 8 foot bed 5.7 V8 is what I would want] and the lack of quality on the GMC/Chevy Colorado/Canyon is very discouraging. It has me leaning towards a known vehicle - the one I already own.

The picture is of the flat bed conversion I'm considering getting.

GM engine into Toyota....maybe.

I already upgraded 22R timing chain, replaced head gasket a few other things on the truck. Less than 160k original miles. Except for the oil consumption issues under full throttle load, I feel the current engine is viable and has lots of life left in it.

Rear springs from a 1 ton should solve the suspension.
Most flat beds I have seen are home made wood.

Do you have any direct experience or referrals from or with this shop? Only a 6 hour drive from me.... family lives there. Always good to keep options open.

You could always swap in an Explorer powertrain. 5.0L V8, T-case and a 4R70W are a pretty stout and durable combo.

Yes.
I bought one of their Master engine kits (under $200) and a performance cam a few years back. I'd give them 2 Thumbs up.
