I use the Castrol Edge 0w40 in my GTI and ran it in my previous MKV Jetta. A great product that is easy to get and is affordable.

BTW the Lisle 32mm oil filter socket for the 2.2 GM Ecotec's works perfectly for the filter housing. Easily obtainable at any parts store.

Thanks. Went with the CE 0W-40 euro formula and a VW OEM filter. And thanks for the tip on the 32mm socket and all the other info from all. Subaru next then one of our Hyundais before winter hits.
