Hello!

I know this is a general and subjective question...I know. So, I am just seeking recommendations. I have a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab with the 5.3. The free oil changes are over, and the next one is coming up. It has been getting the Chevy Dealer AC Delco 0w-20 and AC Delco filter when the DIC has been at 10% (which has roughly been 5,000-7000 miles.) I was thinking of going with Mobil 1 EP 0w-20 for 10,000 mile OCI's. Sound good, or is there another oil you'd recommend for this engine?

My commute is 120 miles a day, five days a week, with 5% being city and 95% being smooth highway. Thanks in advance!

If you want to keep your powertrain warranty. You cannot extend the OCI past what the OLM says. And use an oil that meets the GM specs as stated in the owners manual.

Thanks to you both!

Wobbly, the Mobil 1 EP 0w-20 meets the GM specs in the owners manual. Do you think it is too robust and expensive off an oil to run to the OLM , which is generally around 7,000 miles?

Any dexos oil for the duration suggested by your OLM

I like to use the cheapest synthetic on sale.

Everybody has a different option about every oil, so that kind of question will get you many answers. I would drive that Mobil EP 15,000 miles, if warranty was not a concern. You probably still have a powertrain warrant and doing so will void that warranty so 15,000 miles is out of the question. The choice is ultimately yours.

If it was my truck, I'd buy the cheapest oil that meets spec and change it as per the OLM. But then, I'm a cheap son of gun.

Thanks, everyone! I'll go with the cheapest synthetic on sale at Walmart that meets GM specs and follow the OLM.

One last question: Keep running an AC Delco filter, or is there a better option I should consider?

nothing wrong with ACDelco, but Fram Ultra is popular on here, and you can pick it up at WM with your oil. Even their store brand oil filter is ok to use, as it is made by Wix and very good quality for a cheaper filter.

My first choice would be Wix or Napa Gold

Stay with the AC Delco. Should dealer mechanics go underneath, they clearly see you've been following their recommendations. They like seeing stuff like that.

Cheapest dexos rated oil you can find. And unless you plan go back to the dealer get a Fram ultra or tough guard and run for the OCI.

I like filters with a silicone ADBV just because. But most OEMs are not. I would keep with changing the oil when the OLM says to. At least until the engine warranty is over.

Any significant increase in OCI beyond the OLM should be done in conjunction with a UOA.
