Hi all,

I've been out of the loop for 3-5 years now. I've been using yellow can Pure1 for my 2006 Accord V6. At the time, it was one of the better one as far as filtering, quality and price. Thus, I stock up plenty when AAP had big discount.

Now on top of my Accord, I have 2013 Civic 1.8. They both use the same filter.

What would be a good replacement for the once loved P1

as far as filtering, quality and similar pricing?

Thanks in advance.

There's a big line of folks here fighting for the front of the line.....for #1 Fram Ultra Fanboy. You'll hear nothing but great things about the filter.

I prefer synthetic wire backed filters. So of course, Fram Ultras fit that bill.

But I don't run them. Why? Because everyone else does. Not a good reason, but I like to be different.

So, lately, I've been running Napa Platinums, and I've run some of the synthetic Purolators as well. Back in the 90's, I only ran Mobil 1 filters.

OEM filter is a Fram TG7317 with blue paint. Those will serve you well. Follow OEM recommendations for service intervals.

Ive run Fram ultra, but if doing so, my recommendation is that a user employ it for two OCIs as Honda intended.

I don't know that the Honeywell Honda filter is bad, and can be had for an OK, but not stellar price if bought in multi-packs on Amazon.

I do have an M1 and a Napa platinum in my filter bin. Both would be good options, with a slight nod to the platinum, IMO, if you can grab one for $7.50. Since the efficiency of OEM is low, Im not concerned with the fact that the platinum numbers are not well presented by Wix.

Mobil 1 or Fram Ultra or TG.
My Mitsubishi takes the same filters.
Look into MicroGreen 101-7 as well on sale often for $7.

THE OEM Honda filter is a cardboard Fram, similar to the TG.

But the best filters for your car are probably
Wix 57356/Napa Gold 7356
Wix XP 57356XP/Napa Platinum 47356
Fram Ultra XG7317/FPS7317 (this Fram is actually very good and has metal end caps)
M1-110
Mann W610/6
Hengst H97W05

The German filters may be difficult to obtain here, not worth the extra money and effort over a Wix.

Just FYI the Honda A01 filter is not made by Fram and does not have cardboard end caps. I avoid the A02 for this reason, just picky.

I use Napa golds on my 2010 civic (same engine). At the end of the day any half way decent filter will be fine, especially on a Honda.

+1 Napa Gold/Wix I think is the best for the money if your OCI is less than 7500 miles.

In the old thread, it appears some people/cars take a little longer for the oil light to go off.

Do I need to be concern about this?

Nope. You can confidently run it as long as the light says you can

Also, Napa Synthetic oil is on sale this month for $2.99/qt. You can pick up a couple Napa Golds or Platinums while you're there

I service 3 Hondas. 2005 Civic 1.7L with 200k, 2011 Fit 1.5L with 65k, and a 2003 Acura TL 3.2L with 113k. They all take the same filter. I use either Napa Gold 7356 or Fram Ultra XG7317.

Wix/Napa Gold 5/7356 is a good alternative to the P1. And though I never had an issue with all the PL14610's I used on Accord and Civic, and it was many, the Napa Gold 7356 has been my go to more recently. Been obtaining the NG
There are others choices as noted in other posts, but the NG is my preference for one MM oci at the moment. My latest 7356 was posted HERE.

It appears Wix/NG mentioned very often and has lots of people very confident in this filter.

When do Napa typically has the semi annual sale? Rough estimate time frame.....
