Hi Guys,

In have a HEAVILY modified BMW m20 engine in my e30, utilizing a non-OE remote filter console.
I've been running a Fram XG2, but after seeing some of the quality control concerns (along with the First Brands fallout) I'm debating switching.

My main goal is efficiency, as the car only sees limited mileage yearly (sub 5k) and the oil is changed once a year regardless of mileage.
Open to any suggestions, almost anything should fit as there's plenty of space.
Pic for tax.

wix 51515xp
or baldwin b2 would be my choice.

on a side not any issues with the silicon rad hoses sweating coolant ? i cant seem to find any that dont

There's a few options, I run the same filter size in my 1990 MasterCraft Prostar.

First, don't go with the WIX 51515XP, not a good choice for efficiency and the build quality has not been very good lately. Second, here's a list of filters with good filtration and build quality: Baldwin B2, M1-301A (as long as it has the newer construction), Carquest Premium 85515, MicroGard Select MSL51515, and NAPA Gold 1515. Third, here's a list of filters with exceptional filtering and build quality, but with a high price tag: Baldwin B2-HPG and Fleetguard LF3487 (stratapore media). Lastly, if you want a longer filter with exceptional filtering, the Baldwin B7311-MPG is absolute at 20 micron and nominal at 5, a picture shown below.

Edit: Here's info into the efficiency of all the Baldwin filters that cross over to the Motorcraft FL1-A, the same filter size as the XG2.

Ive had zero issues with coolant sweating from the hoses. This is a custom made kit for this car/motor from a company who specializes in this era BMW.

Can’t you get a Fleetgard using Stratapore media or Donaldson Blue?
I'm having trouble navigating their catalog to find a Stratapore filter with M22x1.5 threads. Maybe I'm missing something, but it does not seem to be very user friendly.

Check out the Carquest EP. High flow synthetic media, nylon backed, high efficiency. 99.5%@25 microns. Easily available at AAP in store or online.

Disregard these filters, I mixed up XG2 and XG8, my bad everyone.

seconded for the CQ EP filters. probably one of the better options on the market right now other than the Premium line. i find some comfort in reinforced media even though the premium line has shown zero issues in 12k mile service.

I would have a Boss on there as fast as a mouse grabbing cheese off the counter. Which is real fast. American made Mann synthetic fiber, polypropylene, but even better.
