Michelin's grand touring summer tires, the Primacy HP and Primacy 3, are available on SimpleTire and eBay, and their treadwear rating is 240, and they have a 35k warranty.

That ER33 is probably an OE tire. Their non-OE grand touring summer tires, such as the ER30, T001, and T005, have treadwear ratings of 320. And remember, those treadwear ratings don't mean much and cannot be compared against different mfrs. The Bridgestones I mentioned have no treadlife warranty, whereas the Michelins have a 35k warranty even though their treadwear rating is lower at 240.

I do agree that we need more grand touring summer tires here, and that the US tire market is too focused on the max performance stuff. Another thing that's doing it is the modern no-profile tire sizes

Even though Michelin themselves gives the AS3 a higher comfort rating than the 4S? Maybe you know something that Michelin doesn't?

Too bad UTQG doesn't do noise rating like the EU tyre label for apples to apples comparison.

One thing I just though of was how during the summer months, I routinely will go camping, 4-wheeling and or be in some grass/dirt/field situations. I don't anticipate running the old Accord through a mud bog, but, the possibility of a slimy, greasy layer of mud, gravel, soil or wet grass may be a possibility.

Does that right there put me into strictly looking for A/S tires with a M+S rating?

Comfort =/= noise

I agree about the EU Tire label.

I also checked the Michelin site for the tires' comfort and handling ratings you mention, and here is what I got from three tires in the size 225/50-17:
Tire -------- Comfort --Handling -- Braking -- Life --- Fuel Efficiency
Pilot Sport AS3 9 -- 8 -- 8 -- 10 -- 9
Pilot Sport 4S - 8 -- 9 -- 10 -- 9 -- 9
Primacy 3 ----- 9 -- 10 -- 9 -- 8 -- 10

I would also like to point out that, on Michelin's site, those 5 ratings for each tire were listed in a different order for each tire. I had to arrange them all in a standard order to follow. The Primacy 3 had it in the order I used. The AS3 and PS4S have handling listed first, then braking. It can make it harder to compare when they keep switching it around.

On the British site, I was able to find EU tire label ratings for the Primacy 3 and Pilot Sport 4 (not 4S). It appears that the 4S is available in 225/50-17 in the S but not Europe, or at least not the UK! And Michelin seems to make several versions of the Primacy 3 in the size 225/50-17. The one I linked to on eBay is the only Y-rated version listed on the British Michelin site.

There are two versions of the PS4 for this size listed on michelin.co.uk, but both have identical EU Tire Label ratings

Comfort is part of NVH. A tire that roars on the road isn't exactly "comfortable" to the driver.

The orders of ratings, can also point out priorities of the tire, which I stated earlier.

UHP tires have handling and braking as higher priorities than comfort. (Pilot summer & a/s).

A touring tire (Primacy 3) has comfort has the highest priority.
