If using STP as an additive I think I would prefer to use a 10w-30 HDEO.

i would crank it up on some cheap wal-mart hdeo diesel oil and run it for 5 minutes with out letting it idle to splash lubricate the cam. i would change the oil and filter after 5 min and run an SL rated oil or a good hdeo like rotella and run it a few hundred then change again for your normal oci. I like to get the break in metals out of the engine rather than run 500 or 1000 miles on the start up oil. After say 200o miles run 5w 40 rotella syn or 5w 30 SL rated oil if you can find it. ( mobil 1 high mileage?)

STP does not have the massive amounts of ZDDP that it once had. Use it only for viscosity increases.

Bah, the guy sold the 351M already so it's gone. But since it looks like I'm either rebuilding my own 351M or rebuilding someone else's 351M or 400, I'll just do the same stuff with the motor I do build. And if I'm the one doing the work I do intend on changing the cam and everything else valvetrain related. So I'll need something in there for protection. From ze Germans.
