Really Good Deal On .45 ACP SD Ammo

After running almost 50 rounds through the Glock, the Norma ammo ran just fine. Kicked the brass about 6 - 8 feet further than the S&B but I expected it would being a hotter load. Thanks again billt460 for the heads up on the Palmetto sale. (y)

You're welcome. Glad they ran good in your gun!

Natchez has CCI Blazer aluminum case for the same price. Brass is $20 more (1000 rounds), or $0.26 a round, either 124 or 115 grain FMJ. Free shipping over $200 order for the next two days.
Depends on your shipping charges as to which is cheaper overall. I've had good luck with CCI Blazer in other calibers. No experience with PMC.
Edit. Natchez has the PMC on sale for the same price as Palmetto with free shipping (1000 rounds)

Blazer has been iffy for me. I ordered, and paid for, brass, but they sent me aluminum. And that stuff just doesn’t run well. For fear of another “bait and switch“ I won’t order blazer again.

I have never had a problem with PMC.

My Tisas 1911 showed up at my FFL this morning, so I drove down to pick it up. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box. This guy was really nice. The type that if I was 40 years younger, I wish I could have had a father like him. I'll be using him for my FFL from now on, that's for sure. He runs a nice clean shop all by himself.

He waited until I got there to cut the box open in front of me, so we could inspect it together. Everything was in perfect order. I was glad that it shipped with the Walnut double diamond grips. (An extra set of plastic grips are included). The slide has no markings. It also came with a plastic bushing wrench.

The frame has small lettering, "M1911 A1 Govt." just in front of the slide stop. And, "Tisas 1911 Knoxville, Tenn." in the same small lettering on the opposite side. It has the improved slightly lowered ejection port, which is nice, and helps with reliability.

The hammer is widened at the spur, and has nice checkering. Mine came with 2, Mec-Gar 7 round magazines. Some of these guns on Youtube are shipped with a pair of 8 round Checkmate mags. It just depends.

There are literally dozens of Youtube videos on this gun. And they all seem to come with different accessories. Some with extra grips. Some not. Some slides are marked, "1911 Service Issue", while some like mine are plain.

I'm not going to light it up until this heat breaks. We've been in the upper one teens for the last 2 weeks +. Anyway, for just $299.99 + tax and shipping you get a nice forged frame and slide 1911, that is finish machined after heat treat. The finish is nice and even, with just enough sheen to it.

PSA is still showing these on sale for that $299.99 price. So if anyone is interested and wants a nice, solid, plain Series 70 1911 without parting with high dollars, I doubt you can do any better.

175gr. is the lightest factory JHP load in .45 ACP I have ever seen (185gr. was the lightest JHP in .45 ACP previously) , so there may be a reason why it is on special at PSA … Make sure this 175gr. load cycles properly in your .45 ACP (especially a 1911) !

it's not a JHP bullet...it is monolithic and no lead and all copper...one piece - and Norma is a quality company...good luck with your choice...no issues with the 9mm and .380ACP I bought...

I wasn't too thrilled with the Walnut grips that came on my Tisas GI 1911 .45. The wood looked OK, but they had no finish so to speak. Just raw Walnut. So I replaced them with a set of Rosewood grips that I had.

I don't have any current use for them, so I took a chance and gave them just a single coat of clear Polyurethane, and this is how they turned out. I think they're a little better looking. I'm not going to give them another coat, because I think they'd be too glossy.

Seeing this has become a sort of "all purpose firearms thread", I thought I would mention it. Harbor Freight has 50% off all ammo cans TODAY ONLY (9/25/24).

You can pick up their all metal .50 cal. ammo cans that are normally $17.00 for just $8.50. I have several of these and they are very sturdy and as well made as the G.I. models. I keep 3 bags of shot in one, (75 pounds), near my shotshell presses when I reload.

Get the coupon here....

Norma had a similar sale a while back. I bought 15. Two of them never made it. Norma refunded the money (they had sold out). I bought a couple more from Amazon.

Eight months later, a beat up, damaged FedEx box appeared on my doorstep. With two ammo cans in it…

I have a couple extra now…

Astro, if you want to delete the one day sale post after tomorrow, go ahead.

Also, if you don't like the big sticker they put on the side, a good dose of WD-40 and a 10 minute soak will take it right off.
