Ammo & Firearms Deal Thread

The shortages are mostly with powder. It's slim pickings, and high priced.

It was much the same with primers up to about a year ago. Now primers are fairly common, and prices are coming down.

But there doesn't appear to be any relief in sight for powder.
Powder prices are insane. I was visiting my son in Florida and took a ride to Bass Pro Shops, I shopped them online but never in a store. I saw an 8 lb jug of Varget for $429 and almost fell over. I still have about 5 lbs of it, I loaded up on it years ago @ $59.95 for it. That would be a nice ROI for an investment. ;)

Midway is currently selling Varget for $64.00 @ Pound.... Plus tax / shipping / & hazmat... Insane!

I get that. It's my first time ever seeing this channel. My point is, there's almost as many spokesmodels claiming ammunition is available and at decent prices as there are those claiming shortages.
Did Winchester make it right for you?
I never quite got to it - the ammo had clearly been exposed to moisture. I saved the boxes. I know the bad lot #s. I should reach out to them.

Just a bump for anyone who shoots AK's. Palmetto State Armory is running a sale on AC Unity 60 round quad stack 7.62 X 39 MM, AK-47 magazines for just $9.99 each. That's a pretty good deal considering Gun Mag Warehouse is selling the same mags for $55.00 each.

The only possible negative I've heard on these, is they can fit a bit tight in Saiga platform AK-47's. They are the same quad stack design as the Schmeisser 60 round 5.56 MM, AR-15 mags.

These advertise the same metal molded in locking tabs. I've got a half dozen on order. I'll report back when I can get them to the range. I hope everyone had a good Christmas!

Here is a test of these magazines by Atlantic Firearms in several different AK-47 rifles. This video is age restricted, requiring that you watch it on Youtube by clicking on, "Watch On Youtube".

Intersting how rifle powder is o much more than pistol or shotgun powder.

Intersting how rifle powder is o much more than pistol or shotgun powder.

Rifle powder is in greater demand due to worldwide military usage. As a result it sells for more because of this demand. Also some of the slower burning rifle ball powders are made underwater, from a wet slurry for safety reasons. This is a more elaborate process, which creates a higher price because of this manufacturing complexity.

The 60 round AK-47 magazines from Palmetto State Armory have arrived. All 6 came yesterday via. UPS. We're having very high winds here for the next couple of days. So I won't be getting to the range with them until it calms down. Hopefully next week sometime.

First impressions are good. They look very well made, and have windows on both sides. They also have molded in metal locking tabs on both front and rear. As well as a molded in metal bolt hold open tab on the magazine follower itself.

The floorplates appear to be removable, but it looks like it might offer some difficulty to do so. But for only $10 bucks each they appear to be well worth it. I tried them in both my Romanian GP 1975's, and my Lancaster Russian Red, and they fit very well. But as always the proof is in the shooting. So far I'm confident. Here are some quick and dirty phone pics.

Palmetto is still showing these in stock at the same price as I type this. Just in case anyone is interested.

you may even be able to get that additional Menards 15% off even though this won't fit in the bag...I've gotten Menard's to give me the bag sale discount on one item that doesn't fit in the bag before and I didn't even have to ask for it...

If you’re looking to buy a 9mm handgun but are on a tight budget Palmetto State Armory has this Turkish clone of the Tanfoglio CZ homage made by SAR. These guns are generally considered to be decently reliable. If hammer-fired is not your thing they also have a couple of striker-fired guns from SAR at a similar price. I would rather have this than a Hi Point if I only had $200 to spend on a pistol.

If you live near a Menards you can pick up a 44 gun safe for $329 after rebate. It’s 14 gauge so a grinder would defeat it pretty quickly, but for the price it’s a good deal for stopping smash and grab burglars. I’m sure Ridgeline is some made up brand name for a generic Chinese produce at this price.

I bought one but it's still in the box. It was made in Thailand. which is at least a little more palatable than China IMO.
