Ammo & Firearms Deal Thread

SG Ammo (Sam Gabbert) is one of my regular “go to” suppliers. Always good prices, sometimes, great prices.
I've purchased several times from SG. They did have good prices. I lost interest when he started his ammo doom and gloom and "you better buy now" scare tactics. I've found good prices and fast delivery consistent with Target Sports USA.

A lot of it isn't, "gloom & doom". It's starting to become reality. The nitrocellulose shortage is very real.

AAC Ammo (which is owned by Palmetto State Armory), has announced they are shutting down their entire operation for a full year.

This because they cannot be assured of a steady stream of propellant. This could very well get much worse before it gets any better.

If you can afford to stock up on ammunition, this would be a very good time to do it.

He's been talking about that for 2+ years and most common calibers pricing has remained quite stable. His more recent panic pimp talk has been tariffs. Take half of what he says, cut it in half and you might find half the truth. His intent is to promote panic buying.

The lack powder availability says otherwise. I've been reloading since the early 70's. And I have never seen powder in such short supply, or anywhere near as expensive as it has been the last 2 years. And there is no sign of it letting up anytime soon.

I'm talking about ammunition. .45, 9mm, .223, .22...prices have been quite stable and availability is a non-issue for several years post pandemic.

I still don't understand why powder is in such short supply? There was no shortage of reloading powder during Vietnam. Or when the Gulf War was going full steam. And both of those conflicts burned up far more powder than this whole Ukraine deal could ever hope to. I doesn't make sense.

Plenty of powder in Central PA. Just purchased 8 pounds of Alliant Promo on Saturday for $255

Seeing Alliant powder on the shelf is a very good sign.

Except that Target Sports USA sold me 1,000 rounds of bad ammo. They said to contact Winchester.

I can deal with the email - but not the loss of $700 on a case of bad .300 BLK.

No thanks, Target Sports.

'This guy'?

I wouldn't consider a YouTube video (especially an entire channel) full of AI speech, AI-generated images and stock footage a reliable source of information.
This is the biggest problem with all of this AI crap. It has quickly gotten to the point you can't distinguish what's real and what isn't.

The ammo, (230 gr. .45 ACP Ball), has arrived from S&G Ammo... All 51 pounds of it. Triple boxed and in perfect shape.

This guy says the complete opposite.

This was done mid-2025. Things have changed. Further, the “voice” has a CG* tone to it - so, I will withhold my enthusiasm and my belief.

When he calls .22 “point 22” I know that is a computer interpretation. No actual shooter calls it that.

I get that. It's my first time ever seeing this channel. My point is, there's almost as many spokesmodels claiming ammunition is available and at decent prices as there are those claiming shortages.
Did Winchester make it right for you?

The shortages are mostly with powder. It's slim pickings, and high priced.

It was much the same with primers up to about a year ago. Now primers are fairly common, and prices are coming down.

But there doesn't appear to be any relief in sight for powder.
