For those of you who kept muttering about the "New" $2.69 MSRP and would never quote the "old" MSRP... (I suspect it was at least $2.39).

Fred's Dollar Stores Real World Prices "Old" 10W-30 $1.99 and "New Deposit Shield" 5W-30 $2.09. At least at Fred's there was a $0.10 increase

Not a big deal. The big question is if the formula was tweaked. It should be easy to get a group-pay VOA done. I'll even offer my PayPal acct for some donations. What's a VOA these days, $25? So 5-6 guys with a fiver should take care of it. I'll buy a bottle of 5w-30 as soon as I see one.

Here's my PP address: [email protected]

We need about 5 more $5 donations or even if you want to send $2....I'll list all the donators names here and with the VOA post.

I'd pay for the whole VOA if I was planning on using the new version, but I have a good 3yr of synth to work through first.

I just Paypaled you 5 smackers.

fwiw--I haven't been to Fred's lately, but I have seen the Deposit Shield variety Havoline next to the old formula Havoline at AZ here. Both were $2.29. That may change as soon as the old formula sells out.

I am not sure that "Deposit Shield" will show up on a cheap VOA. I have my suspicions that it may be a small 2% addition of a POE. Think a maintenance dose of ARX.

I suspect it will show a slightly higher level of calcium detergent, like the Castrol formulation.......

Well, looks like a VOA can go out right after the holidays. We can use 2-3 more group VOA members to donate. The reason I think a VOA would be nice is people really want to know about moly levels, increased boron and generally if this is a re-formulation or not. The yes/no determination about the reformulation should probally be easy with the basic VOA. My impression about GTX was that it was a newer-style additive package, not just an additive boost. Now we can see what's going on with "Deposit Shield".

Havoline Deposit Shield is $2.56/qt, $11.48/5qt. jug at the local WalMart. It is now the highest priced dino oil on the shelf.

Had to go back to Wally's tonight again and low and behold there was 10W-40 Deposit Shield in 1qt containers. No others. @ $2.18 a quart.
