Yes, glasses interfere with the facial recognition software.

Although, if you asked her why I bet she would have some excuse about the camera flash etc, I've overheard DMV employees telling people just that. Therefore, they are either uninformed as well or blatantly lying, most likely the latter.

Where is the outrage at Facebook and Google for doing the same exact thing with facial recognition software? My guess would be that those living in moms basement hanging on the computer in their underwear feel these companies are more friendly to them and have no nefarious intentions.

Not me - having gone through 3-5 month processing in many countries to get permits - I don't mind this. Many places don't just let us show up and blend in - and the USA has an accounting process well past due now.
