RAYBESTOS Element 3 coated rotors or ...

I've been using the Bosch quietcast coated rotors for about 10 years. I know this was about Raybestos but thought I'd give my experience. The coated here in Michigan usually last about 3-4 years before they're so rusty they need to be replaced. The coating only slows down the rust but doesn't eliminate it.

and the Bosch rotors have more carbon in them, I've noticed the better stopping ability over other brands, plus the runout has been the lowest I've measured on any rotors lately. When it's that good I keep buying them!

3-4 years in Michigan isn't bad at all :D

Uncoated rotors rust in 3-4 hours!

When the coated rotors were replaced, did they slide right off, or did you need the hammer?

Exactly! Now you know why I was surprised and happy they lasted 3 years! Replaced them 3 times in 10 years.. And you're spot on correct!! Oh ya I've seen uncoated rotors rust (turn orange) over night!

The rotors usually slide right off, the worse set (same brand Bosch) just needed my hands to rock once back-n-forth and slid right off. No hammer needed. The rust was on the hub, just cleaned that off and was good to mount the new rotor (after measuring run-out, of course)..

Oh and yes the rust paint was still on the hub of the rotor! Only problem looks like it's getting more difficult to find Bosch Quietcast rotors, even their own website is showing some models aren't made anymore.. but I have a stash! so I'm good for awhile (y)
