I used to run Ravenol VST 5W40 in my Audi A3 8V but I switched to EFS for my X3 G01 because I want to stay with LL17 for now. Since the X3 G01 doesn't have GPF and it's technically ok to run LL01, LL01FE, LL17 per BMW, I will most likely switch over to VST soon.I run Ravenol VMP 5W30.
.What is better? Low SAPS oils will reduce (NOT prevent) IVD. Only reason why VW used in the US VW502.00 oils like Castrol 0W40 was high sulphur gas. Since 01/2017 the US switched gradually to ULSG like EU. By now, it is hard to find high sulfur gas.
Thanks for the feedback! I just found out that my G01 doesn't have a GPF so it's safe to run LL01. Although I really like LL04 oils, I fear I would run into warranty issues since LL04 is still not approved for gasoline engines in the US market according to BMW's technically suitable engine oil document published in 2020. LL01 is a good alternative for me though.'
If you'd feel better with 5W-30 or 5W-30 I'd suggest using
BMW LL-04 on your G01. REP 5W-30 and RUP 5W-40 are
supposed to be Ravenol's most advanced and best offerrings.
Why LL-04? The exact same applies to BMW LL-04 vs LL-01:

Blauparts does sell RSP but it has been out of stock for quite some time. Would love to run RSP when it comes back in stock..
I understand your point during warranty.
Btw. Ravenol RSP 5W-30 is approved for LL-01. No clue if Blauparts sell it.
RSP seems like an amazing oil. I’d be running it if it was in stock, and I hadn’t found HPL.Blauparts does sell RSP but it has been out of stock for quite some time. Would love to run RSP when it comes back in stock.
