Ran engine dry

This happened to me on a Jeep Commanche Pickup . I ran it less than a minute . I had no problems except having to walk to a gas station to buy overpriced quarts of oil to get me back on the road . The mess was pretty bad even though it was parked on recycled concrete .

I did this on my 63 Thunderbird. Missed the gasket hanging on and threaded the new filter on over it.

Worked fine for a whole day, then I got my foot in it and blew oil everywhere! Spectacular smoke, thankfully no fire.

No engine damage at all. Only thing hurt was mechanic's ego.
