I changed my oil and started the engine. After a few seconds, I heard a knocking sound and saw smoke. I turned off the engine and saw a puddle of fresh oil on the floor. The old filter gasket was still on the block, under the new gasket. I cleaned it up and refilled my oil. It took 5.5-6 quarts (normally a 5.1 quart change). I warmed up the engine and went for a drive. Once I deemed everything normal and the oil temp was high enough, I did some full throttle to 8k redline pulls. Everything was normal. I popped the hood and listened. No unusual sounds. I must have run the engine for 10 seconds, 15 max at 2k cold idle. I doubt any oil got into the head during that time, since it all escaped through the filter gasket. Can anybody tell me from experience that my engine is probably fine?
