plug in your new ride and enjoy the paymeents

I guess some people are anti-new car on here because they don't either want the payments-or simply cannot afford a new car-thus they feel compelled to make posts such as this.

Two things dude-Many on here can afford and enjoy new vehicles. And we all know BITOG is where old cars come to die.

Right now I have 60 grand worth of cars sitting in my garage-and we enjoy them. I do not intend to die and leave my kids all my money.

What make/model vehicles do you own ?

Late Model GMC Sierra SLT fully loaded Crew Cab 4 WD (used to haul travel trailer)

Ok, so the truck is a 2011 if I remember correctly CKN?

No I traded it in on newer one-a 4WD model-and I paid 30grand for it. Then I paid a little over 30grand for the Hyundai.

We splitting hairs here tonight?

Let's not miss the point here-while your trying to figure out if my math is correct. There are many more old cars on this site than newer ones. And most owners are just nice regular guys trying to figure out how to get a few more miles out of their vehicles. Because new(er) ones are expensive. Nothing wrong with that. Then there are those that have animosity towards those of us who wish to have newer rides-for whatever reasons.

ANY LEASING THREAD brings these guys out with a vengeance.

That's my point.

BTW-you call it 50grand if you want due to depreciation........

Good point, tell your friend Pop Rivit that one.

To have a gas motor not turn 4k under a heavy load up a hill... wouldn't the motor have to be wildly oversized or something heavily boosted like an Ecoboost?

The Ford 6.2L I had in a 2015 F350 new would rev like a four cylinder and was smooth as silk. No big deal on the revs
They are supposed to do that.

I could write a check for a new truck and would never do it. Not worth it.

Would you be inclined to buy any new car?

Not likely. Hemi Charger is about the only one that interests me.

Almost comical. All the usuals show up to diss the RAM.

Sales tells the true story. While trucks do get lots of fleet buyers the overwhelming majority are bought by individuals.

We bought one. Well over 50k miles now with zero issues. Fantastic, comfortable, capable. A great truck...

Ram trucks are the best looking of the bunch.

Some people can afford $35K+ new trucks.

They need to update the Ram. While it looks pretty nice, it's 9 years old of the same old same old.

Then my point being is that in reality you wouldn't buy any new vehicle. Nothing wrong with that. It just puts your last post in perspective.

I think the 4th gen Rams look great. I cannot stand the new Ford 150 and Superduty styling. So many of these companies are in such a rush to refresh a model that they dont care how it turns out, just that it is new. The fords look terrible and the GM's just do not do it for me either. I sure hope when the 5th gen comes out that they dont make a mess of it.

There has been some pretty big updates in that timeframe. The interior, frame, and drivetrain specifically. Most of the major changes were in place by the 2013 model year. Yes, the exterior hasn't changed much, but change just for the sake of change isn't always best either.

Over the Easter weekend, we were parked near a guy with a 2017 F350. I said nice truck, and that was apparently his cue to go off on a tirade about his aluminum bed. He proceeded to show me the nice tear in his bed, where he had accidentally dropped his 5th wheel hitch. He said he was NOT happy with (his words) his "Beer can bed".

What flavor did you get Steve?

I have a 2014 Ram Sport with a 5.7 Hemi and 3.92 rear end. It hauls [censored] and I love the looks of this truck. I bought my truck because it was the best looking truck at the time and I know the Hemi will outlast the body. The 8 speed transmission is real nice. I am not loyal to any brand because they have their problems. So I have know idea what my next one will be. But I am happy with it.

Happy with my 2012 1500 Quad Cab Big Horn 4X4. Good for hauling my trailer mounted BBQ pit smoker & supplies around. I can still change PSF since it retains a belt driven PS pump, and can use MO-899 filters with no issues. My 68RFE doesn't have 8 speeds but takes inexpensive ATF+4. Enjoyable road tripper, easily accomodates a wheelchair when helping out those less fortunate. Likely to outlast me.

Been happy with my 2015 Ram 4x4 Crew Cab. Just over 36,000kms on it and no problems at all. It has the 65RFE transmission and 3.55 rear gears and goes like [censored] when I put the pedal down. Good old pushrod engine with VVT, can't get much better than that.

How did the 3.6L Pentastar versions work out? Really seems like too little motor, esp if quad cab 4x4... but

I'll admit to long being against Dodge but if they have their stuff together then I'd look again, if/when the time comes.

Dodge has been criticized for a long time. I was afraid to buy a Dodge in the 1970s, but they were really just as good as anything else out there at the time. I had a 2001 Dodge truck that was really good (bought new). I have a Chevy now, but only because I got it cheaper than a Dodge or Ford. Ford is decent too and I wouldn't be afraid to buy one.
