Hey all. I've been using the Rain-X windshield washer fluid for a few months now and it seems to do the job of repelling water/slush pretty well. I never had the excuse to try and de-ice my windshield with it which was the reason I actually switced.

Anyway, it seems to leave a brownish gunk when it mixes with dust/dirt and I've now got a couple of fan shaped patches on my hood from the overspray.

How is this stuff on paint?

Thanks

Greg

I think I remember reading on the back of the wipes container...

"Not safe for Clear Coats"

ah I got the container here we go...

Important!: DO NOT use on coated or non-clear surfaces. Do not use on plastic.

Thanks for that. No warning like that at all on the windshield washer bottle. I wonder why?

In any case, I don't think I'm going to buy any more of it.

Greg,

Try the wipes. That way it won't leave any crap on your clear coat

.

I usually use the wipes on my front and rear window as a final step to the car wash. Works amazingly well.

Greg (Yup its my name too)
