New Rain X Platinum washer fluid

The premium washer fluids are rediculous, at least in Canada…
There is -35, -40, -45, -49, -50 degrees Celsius fluid….usually the best sale price is on the -45 version.
They just came out with a ‘new’ -40 fluid called ‘ice breaker’ for $8.99/4 litres!!

I always used Walmart one, -20f in BMW (heated fluid) and -25 in Tiguan or Toyota. Then Rain-X showed up in Costco. OK, got that. Bottles in all cars got dirty, in the BMW gasket on the headlight washers started to leak after one winter.
Screw Rain-X. Went back to SuperTech. I go through some 40 gallons of fluid in a winter. Same price, does the same job, and the bottles were never stained with some leftover junk.
I've always wondered why VW and BMW have issues with the orange rain x but other makes/models don't?

Not sure. The bottle in my Toyota is full of residue too.
Just to add. The gaskets on headlight washers failed. All other washers (including BMW) are fine. The headlight washer has far higher pressure. So that probably is also contributing factor once mixed with Rain-X.
All three bottles are equally messed up with this residue.

Both of our family BMWs and Mercedes clogged at the spray head using Rain-X. It takes a long time, but a pain as the spray degrades. I figure it's the heaters at the spray heads congealing or solidifying the silicone. Much as I love Rain-X in other vehicles, I stopped using it.

The price of name brand washer fluid is insane.

I buy Rain X but only at Giant Tiger ( Canadian chain ) and get it for almost the same price as super tech at Walmart.

I go through an incredible amount of washer fluid.

Never did like RainX. The only time I used it, it left a cloudy film on the windshield for half a second every time the wipers went by. Think the larger droplets were being turned into very fine droplets that looked cloudy until they could coalesce into larger droplets that could be seen around. New wiper blades didn't help. RainX made maybe 2% improvement in visibility in rain between wiper passes, but that 100% reduction in visibility for half a second after wiper passes was a flat dealbreaker. Never again.

I'm assuming others have different experiences, but I hated it and have specifically avoided any RainX product ever since. Even if $8/gal for washer fluid didn't make me laugh, I'd have bought a gallon of water and a bottle of rubbing alcohol before any RainX product.

Yes, it will leave that cloudy film for a brief moment. It doesn't bother me, but my dad doesn't like it for the same reason.

I really like performance of the orange -32 degree Rain-X.

When my grandfather passed, I took several gallons of plain blue -32 degree stuff from his garage, and have been mixing it 50/50 with Rain-X, with no noticeable drop in the water beading or de-icing.

Lately, I have had a problem in my 2008 Dodge Ram, with the "low washer fluid" warning coming on regardless of the actual level. I have had this truck since 2018 and used Rain-X the entire time, but this just started in the past month.

I can only assume that the Rain X has left a film on the sensor, but I like the performance of it, and don't mind the message coming on once in a while. If it were a newer/nicer vehicle, or if I drove the truck every day, I would probably be more annoyed by it.

I live in SE Pennsylvania, we get all 4 seasons here, so I use a decent amount of fluid between pollen, salt, and I usually give it a spray before driving in the rain to give it a fresh "film"
