Quotes/Words you live by?

My grandmother always told my older sister and I to "believe". She also said that "no matter how far, how lonely, and how many people have passed you'll always have family"

I always lived by those words. Even having the words "family" and "believe" tattooed on me.
Back at Benning, in the old Comanche 1/81 AR barracks, we had a quote in our bay for my platoon, words of Tecumseh:

"Live your life so that the fear of death can never enter your heart...Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and in the service of your people...
Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend,even a stranger, when in a lonely place. Show respect to all people and grovel to none. When you arise in the morning give thanks for the food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself...

Probably why my platoon got honor platoon back in OSUT.

My grandparents & parents taught me at a young age - "I am responsible for my decisions"
And while I am now retired from active duty, I had a career in USAF Search & Rescue; if you haven't seen the Angel of Mercy patch, it says, "That Others May Live"
That's why we do the things we do. Happy New Year everyone!

I'm not sure if this counts but: Oh Sh...........t. No good deed goes unpunished. What can go wrong will go wrong. Don't sweat the small stuff. It could be worse. There's a few more that involve some heavy duty curses.
 
There are two from my grandfather that I have kept with me all my life:

A bit harsh but totally true.

Another from my Dad: Don't get financial advice from folks who are broke. Look for 'fruit on the tree'.

I've been spending way too much time lately, trying to make the best decision; and I'm slowly realizing that perhaps just making any decision is better than not. Analysis paralysis sucks.

Otherwise, it'd be "do unto others as you'd have them do unto you."
 
treat people how you would like to be treated ( most people do not subscribe to this theory these days as they are 100% self absorbed)

actions speak louder than words



nobody was every brought into this world sarcastic, they have chosen to be that way. ( this applies to all of the people that use the excuse for not dealing well with other people )
