Quit using Dex-Cool

GM is still using DexCool in all 2007MY vehicles...not sure where you heard this misinformation from.

Hopefully your contact can clarify this for all of the misinformed. I can state unequivocally, that in 2001 when "long life coolants" were finding applications in the Class 8 diesel engine field, the Cummins Southern Plains field training manager said the factory fill long life coolant was causing problems with oil coolers and wet cylinder liner "O" ring seals in Cummins ISX and N-14 engines. However..... these apparent coolant related problems have been rectified and factory fill oxalic acid based "long life coolant" is the standard factory fill for all Paccar vehicles. Another case of technology (chemistry) getting ahead of itself. Let no good deed go unpunished!!

Oxalic acid? That's what your body metabolizes ethylene glycol into if you were to drink it. I wasn't aware that any coolant used it as an ingredient.

I just flushed the wife's van even though it didn't need flushed I do it anyway. I run the Dexcool for about 75,000
then flush and refill. I put a new thermostat in and it was spotless in there as well as the radiator. Van has 151,000
right now.

Same story with all my other vehicles.

This coolant is not causing any problems unless people are mixing different types. The rest of the problems are purely mechanical in nature.

I converted my '96 explorer purcchased new to dexcool. I used the Texaco brand, in 1998. In 2003 I flushed and refilled with Dex-Cool. The radiator was spotless and there was zero debris in the flush. Car has 175,000 miles on it now and performs great.I am a strong believer in this product.

Or mismaintenance/operator error .
Of course the now ever popular lack of personal responsibility/critical thinking ability plays into it as well ....as does plain old ignorance .
