Quick oil change question...

Like MysticGold04, I too use a Fumoto valve. I have a new Honda and it has an aluminum pan which means big bucks if I strip the plug threads. The Fumoto only cost around $30 and it is there forever. It makes oil changes and taking samples a piece of cake and you never have to worry about crush washers again.

20 replies about a little copper washer/crush washer/crush gasket/seal/crush seal...ummm...a thin, soft metal or nylon disc used as a seal.

And I thought syn vs dino debate was drawn out. I love this forum!!! lol

Same here, but for nearly 45 years on various cars. Never developed a leak at the drain plug, never bothered dressing the washers down with a file, either. Automakers' insistence on new drain plug washers at each oil change is overblown hooie.
