Jim,

It depends on if the 90 degree adaptor is installed.

Mopar was aware of the tight fit with the v-8s. The short filter is all that will usually fit if it sticks out straight from the engine.

If you can get ahold of the 90 degree adaptor, that will make changing filters easier.

www.manciniracing.com should have them. They are not usually cheap.

you might be able to snag one on ebay. But if its very old, you will have to put a new gasket set in it.

hopet this helps.

Gotta change the oil in the Jeep tomorrow. I've used both Pure One and regular Purolators, and lately Napa Gold. Never seemed a problem with any. Is it worht the extra 5 mile trip to score another Napa Gold at about $6-7 or just go down the block for a $5 Pure One( or a $3 Purolator Plus?

Mark,

From reports on the board, both are very good filters. The results should be the same with both.

Why drive if you dont need too.

question for Dan: my '72 Valiant 318 is a tiight squeeze to get the filter up to the block. Last Purolator filter I installed PL20081 was slightly shorter than the old one same p/n. I noticed a PowerFlo filter 30001 (i think) same threads and gasket as the purolators L20081, but longer/more capacity. Any idea if it will fit up in there? THanks.

Thanks; that jogged my memory and I remembered that I have a paperback "how to build performance MOPAR small blocks" or something like that and I found a picture and reference in there. Probably a little too expensive, so old '72 have to get by with the shorty filters as it has been for last 33 years with no discernable ill effect.

been running the stock filter from a 2.2L mopar on my 318 powered Dart for years.solves the clearance issuses.
