Question to people with over 200,000 miles?

A lot will depend on what vehicle this is and how you maintain it. The wife's '01 Lumina (211,000 miles) is our designated road-trip vehicle; we take it on 300-mile trips up to the inlaws' pretty regularly. I just check the fluids, check over for leaks, and go. But I maintain that car religiously 'cause I don't want to be broke down in BFE Kansas on a 100-degree day with the nearest shade or human being several miles away.

I bought my 88 528e with 150k miles on it. At around 275k, in 2002, I drove it to Auburn IN. about 2k miles. No troubles except the starter began to have sticky drive troubles. In 2003, I drove to Boone NC, another 2k. Then Greenville SC. in 2005, followed by South Bend IN in 2006 , Chattanooga in 2007. Plus 3 1200 mile trips to Toronto. All trouble free trips. I retired the Borman 6 in late 2007 with 350k miles on an original drive train. At times I was commuting between 700 and 1000 miles a week for normal use. Just routine maintenance

If you can't trust your vehicle to complete a long trip, then you can't trust it for short but necessary trips closer to home. Get it fixed.

OTOH, if you've taken care of your car, then you shouldn't need to think twice about making a cross-country or cross-continent trip with it.

That's why I wouldn't worry so much about taking a long trip in my Corvette, the parts are relatively easy to find just about anywhere.

With the advent of internet and overnight delivery I think locally obtained parts have less stock AND less worry being in middle of no where fixing car.
