Question for Comcast / Xfinity subscribers

Update:
Thanks for all the advice and I'm close on making a move.

The best deals out there are Triple Plays. So I may add the TV option. The best plan to fit my needs is WOWway.
1)Essential Phone (which is the 3-4 nearest area codes to Detroit).
2)Basic Cable (which is broad).... even includes my local sports teams.... Tigers, Wings, Pistons....etc.
3)Plus I get an internet power jump from 16 mbps to 30 mbps internet.

It's all contingent on still being able to use four land phones in my house and (this is the best part of the deal), my TIVO DVR is compatable with WOWway, only some sort of Cable Card is required to fit-it.

The monthly price is $105 plus taxes, that's including the $5 rental on the modem (for one TV). The locked-in price is good until January 1st 2016.

The salesman was real pushy and wanted to get started today, by visiting my home and eyeballing my current AT-T wirings and modem hookups. I told him I would call him on Monday for an appointment.

Several years ago, Comcast ran a pilot program in the Phila region where customers could buy an approved MTA/modem from a Comcast kiosk at Best Buy. We jumped on it (bought an Arris TM722G) as Comcast was otherwise renting their MTAs.

We could have bought at least 4 MTAs for what the rental would have since cost us.

Otherwise, with their device, they will replace, service and update it, including the backup battery for telco outages.
