Update: Internet Plans - The Good, Bad, Ugly !?!?

Did any of y’all who were on the verge of getting fiber internet finally get hooked up?
Nope!
Still waiting, they did all areas with above ground utility poles but not underground.
Good timing though, a community near us that has 1000 homes, ATT is actively installing underground fiber to replace copper.
We are still waiting for either ATT or our electric utility which is years behind.
Stuck with Spectrum, I can see my last post that cost was only $54.95. They have since raised it to $74.95. Almost a 50% price increase in 4 years time.

Two other very interesting options are now Verizon and even better T-Mobile offer 5G home Internet service.
TMobile home internet is only $50 a month actual payment.
Ironically I am just slightly out of range for it at this time until they upgrade our tower. On my cell phone in my car just 2.5 miles away from my house I can get 800 Mbps with T-Mobile.

400Mbs, dual WiFi, and STD Def TV is over $140/mo here with Comcast ...

There is no phone based service that could come close to keeping up. Satellite is a joke for I'Net. If they own the wire, they got you. Speed is not an issue, competition is ...

What happened to you Broc???
Speak to us bruh....😁

Just received the T-Mobile internet gateway. We currently have Xfinity X1 which is Comcast's premium internet. It took 5-6 attempts to get the Comcast X1 optimized throughout a 2600 sf. townhouse. I ended up paying a low voltage specialist $1000 to get my wifi and cable working to their optimum capabilites, including a MoCa connection for a solid streaming connection to my 75" TV and basement home theater.
I want to try the T-Mobile 5G internet at a different location than where they shipped it. I want to try it in our beach house in NJ.
According to T-Mobiles coverage map, it's located where they say they have the best 5g coverage yet when I put our address there into there availability search online, it indicates not available yet. Will it work there anyway??

I dont think so but cant hurt to try. T-Mobile states that the device can not be used/will not work at another location or something like that.
Meaning it is not mean't to be portable and address specific. I think someone mentioned might be locked to a certain tower or towers. Guess you can try.

For legality reasons - 911 addressing etc T-Mobile wants the gateway at one address. They’ll know by gps if it’s not located at the assigned address.

Looks like it will be going back to T-Mobile. I'm on the waiting list for the 5G at our beach house but was hoping to give it a try down there. The only choices for internet are Comcast or Verizon DSL...that's it. Comcast is really the only game in town and they know it.

Not sure if you are aware that Verizon has 5g home internet service too.

So by way of follow-up...I tried setting up the T-Mobile gateway in our beach house. Sure was simple enough but as mentioned in previous post, it's not the address T-Mobile originally shipped it too. It's our beach house approximately 100 miles Southeast. It worked but not really. It was painfully slow....top download was 8.2 mbps. Upload was something less than 2.
I think the gateways and account might be linked to specific T-Mobile towers. So despite their coverage map showing excellent 5g coverage, it was too slow. Looks like I'm stuck with Comcast X1 at 355+ mbps for now.
