Hello fellow oil nutz! Sorry if this is a stupid question but I’ve never used Valvoline before. My local Walmart had some 10w30 full synthetic with maxlife on sale. Figured id try it out. My question is, is this a “high milage” oil because of the maxlife technology? Nowhere does it say high milage on the bottle. Also what is “maxlife technology” if this isn’t a high milage oil with seal conditioners?

Valvoline Maxlife is considered by many to be the standard for high mileage oils. Maxlife is just their marketing term for extra cleaning and anti wear additives plus conditioners for seals. It’s a quality product and you can run that with no worries.

Valvoline seems to have good NOACK ... like in the 7 to 9 range, and pretty high HTHS compared to other brands in the same viscosity (at least in 5W-20 and 5w30 that I've compared).

Hate Valvoline oil but this is their best stuff. Use it but expect a high sodium content if you uoa. Don't let my personal dislike keep you from a synthetic brand name oil. Its all a matter of taste. It will be fine

It's no longer a high Sodium oil. Check for recent VOA post dexos1Gen2 certification.

OP, VFSwML is Valvoline's top shelf product. Recommended for new and high mileage vehicles.

I used this product in my 98 Accord with good results. My car usually burns half a quart every 3,000 miles. With Valvoline Full Synthetic with MaxLife Technology 10w30, I didn't use any oil during the first 3,000 miles and it took about 6,000 miles to use half a quart.

Same oil I'm using, except mine is 5w30. Looks like they are marking it down to get rid of the old stock, the new bottle has "High Mileage" on it. Runs great no problems with the oil.

When I first came to BITOG in 2004, Valvoline oils were scorned for having a lack of additives according to used oil analysis.
Over the years this has changed. The proof seems to be in the pudding... where many users have great results using Valvoline oils. I have never used a high mileage oil because of the idea (which seems to be a mistaken one) that the vehicle couldn't go back to regular oil w/o leaking because it became accustomed to the seal swellers in the High Mileage oil...having said this....I think this is one of Valvoline's best products...

Why do you hate Valvoline oil?
