The Civic 'normally' burns some oil and I've been using various 5W20 as Mobil 1 Extended Performance, Pennzoil conventional, Motorcraft 5000, Exxon and the M1 burned the least. The Pennzoil conventional, the worst. I then decided to try the Quaker State Ultimate Durability and see how it goes. It's been over a month now and consumption has dropped. Better than the M1. Now, I didn't do an OCI. I simply topped off. But I've been topping off, less times I NEEDED to. The next OCI will be all Quaker State Ultimate Durability 0W20 and the Civic seems to love it. I'll see if consumption drops DRAMATICALLY. *fingers crossed*

I put 4.5 quarts of it (Quaker State Ultimate Durability 0W-20) in my MDX last night, and it's super quiet. Is Quaker State Ultimate Durability the new BITOG darling?
thought about stepping up to a 5/30? it will probably stop it all together
I would try Maxlife Full Synthetic. They have it at Meijer for $25 for 5.1 Qts in 5w30 flavor.

I tried with Maxlife 5W30 and other brands. Burned it like nothing. It seems to like the thinner stuff. It still burns but much slower.

10W30 HDEO with or without MMO piston soaks is probably your best solution.
I don't see how topping off could have cured the consumption, unless it was a huge top off.

It didn't "cured the consumption". It slowed down. The Maxlife is a thicker 30, closer to 40 and it didn't help squat. 10W30 is too thick for this car IMO.
