This is a QS16 that was on a 2001 Durango 4.7L. About 6 months and ~3k miles, with QSGB.

This filter, I believe, is a P/N referenced to fit as a result of streamlining P/N's for some retailers, in this case Menard's. I hesitantly bought it because it's a good amount shorter than the QS3600, Mopar M0-090, etc.

After cracking open the can, I was pretty surprised at how short the media section is. While I'm sure it did fine considering my short OCI, I think I'll rest easier knowing a more substantial sized media is in there. So, I replaced it with a standard sized Puro Classic L14670.

I'll add that the truck had been sitting for 3 weeks, which might explain the waviness of the pleats.

Looks to be made by Purolator. Yeah, not much media area in that one from the looks of it. The wavy pleats look typical for a Purolator.

This is the "new and improved" version I guess. I've got a stock of older QS-16's for my Dakota and they're almost twice as long as what is being stocked now.

THAT little itty-bitty thing showed up as the correct part for your Durango?

I actually got a good laugh out of that. Looks like it held up OK anyhow, though.

the purolator store branded filters are smaller than the purolator branded filters. next time get the QS8a filter, it is probably the same money! and just a cm bigger than a real 14670.

No, USA. That was what was written on the can. Purolator must price out business to certain retailers. Obviously. I stuck with them, but only with a normal sized can.

Menard's, which is the only stores around here that stock QS filters, didn't stock 'em. At least when I bought.

I was expecting another e-core sub brand when you said it was shorter, but that's definitely a Puro. Looks like it was in fine shape but shame on them for even making that midget.

As with most of the Puro 'made fors' now, eg. ProMotive, Proline, Group 7 etc., many applications have been consolidated to the smallest filter that will fit across all of them. If one wants to get the larger original oem size, you have to get it in the name brand, Classic or P1.

Same thing going on in the express lubes and independents which use the 'made fors'. Still, filter looks like it did it's job.

I've got a new Quaker State 8A filter next to me. It is the size of the old 3600. In other words, it's much smaller than the old 8A filters from years ago. The tape measure says it's about 4.75" long and 3" (barely bigger than the diameter of the gasket) wide. For my 8A applications, I'll be using a regular Purolator or a Wix as they are still the (what I call) 1 quart size.
I got the QS 8A filter at Menards.
