Quaker State Oil Filters Any Good?

Last I checked they were purolator classic clones. If so you might want to check out the threads on their media tearing before buying.

Yes, I've been following all the threads about recent issues with Purolator Classic filters. If these Quaker State filters are indeed Purolator, I'll leave them right where they are, on the store shelf.

Better leave on the shelf then because they are indeed Purolator 'made for' filters. And while often referred to as clones to Classic in construction, they are lower in rated efficiency than Classic.

The QS ones they sell here are far inferior to Puro classics. Id use a puro classic any day over the QS ones. Just my personal opinion.

IMHO, they do have their place. Fine for 3K-4K drain intervals with conventional oil. I wouldn't push it to 7.5K or 10k

Good budget filter. As mentioned I wouldn't push them. There was a user here that used and cut quite a few of them (can't remember who, something to do with TX maybe?) and he started getting media tears when he extended his OCI's.

I've posted this before, but here it goes again..

I've been using the Quaker State filters on 2 vehicles for several years. I have never cut one open, so I can't comment on media issues.

On a Geo Prizm, the ADBV was failing somewhere north of 5k intervals.

On a 96 Camry, I have run the filters out to about 5800 miles, and they have been fine. I have probably used about 10 filters on this particular car.
