Quaker State Defy or Rotella T5

It seems that the new QS defy oil is gaining some popularity as a high zddp oil. I was wondering how the add pack compares to the diesel rated Rotella T5 10w30? Both have good amounts of zddp, both are synthetic blends I think and both are on the thick side of a 30 weight. Not wanting it for any application just curious about which one is better. My opinion is that the rotella my have a advantage because of the dual rated gas and diesel spec.

I currently have the T5 10w30 in my 1987 Toronado (10w30 on the oil cap) after reading about it here at BITOG and looking at data sheet.

If it's good enough for a LoneStar, then it's good enough for me.

Both are a great value. T5 is an impressive oil.

Defy is a PCMO though, and contains more friction modifiers. The T5 will most likely keep the engine cleaner based on the PDF posted above. I doubt Defy would meet those MB specs.

The more I see on Defy the more I like it. I've been a Rotella fan for quite a while, at one point I had it in all 4 of our vehicles, but I'm starting to think Defy may be the better choice for a non-diesel vehicle.

Have some Defy on deck but haven't gotten it in yet, I don't think I've seen a single negative posted by those who have tried it though.

Looking past zdp, Defy is a High Mileage oil with high mileage oil adds right? Are swellers/conditioners necessary in your rig?

I'm impressed with the QS Defy! Arco is using it and hasn't blown up his new car yet! J/K Arco. It does seem to be impressive on paper and everyone using it does like it well. I would prefer the Defy unless i needed a dual rated oil, especially in a light truck/passenger car situation.
