Anyone using this stuff? Like it?

I'm due for an oil change. Went to Walmart for Maxlife and just didn't want to spend 16 bucks for a blend when I know as a member that conventionals are a blend as it is now. They were out of Pennzoil 5w30 so I grabbed the Quaker State for 10.50 for the jug.

Also, I was reading today about the new GF-5 standard and was trying to relate it to the high mileage oil that is out now because I read that the new spec will be better on engine seals. Makes me wonder if HM oil will soon be obsolete, or not as necessary to use. (?)

It's a very good oil that I am guessing uses pretty much the same base oil as Pennzoil conventional "yellow bottle" but perhaps a different add package...

I picked up some on sale at Kmart and used the $5 rebate coupon in the "Rebates" forum and plan on using it for an OCI before Winter...

Val Maxlife is a synthetic blend..says it right on the front.

Yes, I did say that. As we all now with the specs that conventional oils have to meet and the quality now of all base stocks. They practically are blends, no?

I justed used 5 quarts in my Stratus in my previous oil change. I like it, no complaints and its a good price for what I assume is Pennzoil YB

From what I've read QS and Pennzoil are not the same. Both however are excellent IMO. Either would work fine for a normal OCI in most vehicles.

Works just fine.

Dad uses in his cars, no issues at all.

If I go dino again, I'd use it in a heartbeat.

I use it. I prefer pennzoil but QS is my 2nd choice and I have gotten really good deals on it the last few times I stocked up.

I guess they could be blends of Group II oils.

When most people talk of blends they mean a Syn oil mixed with a conventional oil. These are usually I.D'd as blends.

For QS oils they are:

Advanced Dur= conventional
Enhanced Dur= Blend
Ultimate Dur= Full Syn

What are the differences, does anyone know? I always assumed they were both the same base and additives.

Dad went down and brought home 8 jugs of QS since its $8.50 and excellent oil for his Vue and truck.

Been using it for a long time and never a problem.

Different base stocks and different additive packages. QS is a Group II and PYB is a Group II+. QS uses a Lubrizoil additive package and PYB uses a Infenium/Acton additive package.

So what is the big difference with the additive package buddy? I guess in Layman's terms, they both can be used for 5koci easily. I would buy whatever is the cheapest.
