Whats everyone's opinion on QSUD? I noticed Walmart has it for $20.58 - which isn't much more than PYB or most conventional

It's generally known as a "sleeper" oil and produces good UOAs. I just picked up 10 quarts of the stuff at AAP for $32 and change. AAP's website is currently allowing a promo code to be applied. See this thread. And if you sign up for an submit for the $20 rebates, you can make money on the deal.

Off-topic, but we're playing an outdoor festival up there in two weeks called "Rawk the Love" fest. We are headlining as the main band.

Have you heard any spots on the radio for it or read about it? Never been to Fargo myself but it sounds like a nice city.

I've run SOPUS oils exclusively in both of my vehicles since the first oil change, QSUD, PP, and PU. If I get a deal on Pennzoil synthetic, I'll go with it, but all things considered I'd just as soon have QSUD as either of it's cousins. It's good stuff, but don't tell anyone, Shell will probably raise the price. There's eleven quarts in the garage right now ready for my next two oil changes.

In the 0W20 variety for the time being that statement would be correct. For the rest of the viscosity's it never has been the case.

More of an on-topic contribution from me here, I have used QSUD (5w30, Santa Fe) but only in the winter time. I would use my remote start and let it warm up for 10 minutes before taking off. This was in sub-zero weather.

The oil performed okay but was noisy in engine idling. Don't have any other oil to compare it with for winter time.

It`s got a lower cold pour point than PP.

My PP freezes just a bit above 0F. I haven't tested it for lubricity and I know the ammonia would probably give really good TBN numbers, but I'd never put that in my engine!

I keed! I keed! I've run PP and I currently run PU, never tried QS tho; maybe next time?

I can guarantee you PP does not solidify/freeze at 0F. At -20F its like honey but still flows excellent (5w30 SM). The new SN PP is even better with its high VI, haven't tested that yet. What is this ammonia you speak of?

At 20 bucks and change a jug - the price is excellent -am using it in my wife's Corolla and my Rav4. I also am using Cenex Maxtron synthetic in those vehicles. I feel that QSUD is a very good bargain for synthetic.

Maxtron is an excellent oil. To bad all I can find around here is 10w30.

One would think that if you could get 10-30, than you should be able to buy the 5-30 variety. Yea! it does seem to be good stuff-- a lot of people use that synthetic up here and you also have the traditional Havoline users still ( I be one).
