AA has QS 5W-20 syn. on close out for .95 cents per qt. I was thinking about a 50/50 blend of 10W-40 QS conventional and 5W-20 syn. for a avg. of 7.5w30

Or a blend of 10W-30 QS conventional and 5W-20 syn. for a avg. of 5W-27.

It is to be used in a 01 Yukon 5.7 engine with 84,000 miles.

What is the thinking good or bad on these blends?

Do you actually see this in a store, or are you trying to order on-line.

Many of those $0.95/quart offerings on-line are for stock that doesn't really exist.

It may be listed in a store's inventory, but they don't actually have it, and will just cancel your order.

BTDT already.

One local AA had 10qts which I bought 6qts. And another had about 20qts.

I live in a area where I have 7 AA with in 20 miles.

Yes it is on the shelves at some of the stores.

Use the lightest the manual allows for your ambient conditions and change it as prescribed per your driving conditions.Best bet is to use whats on the filler cap as long as it is the correct cap.

Probably could run two quarts 20w50 to the rest QS 5w20 Syn and you'd have about 10w30. Maybe AA still has their BOGOF Synpower deal. Comes out to about $2.75 a quart and comes in 20w50.
